Eyes are Open!

Today the puppies are 18 days old and they are thriving!  They have all tripled their birth weights and are right on schedule developmentally.  Their eyes are open and they are starting to try to perk up their little ears.

At 15 days old, two of our males (above) and 12 days old (below) one of our little females.

Meet Mom & Dad

Mom, Sadie is a 10 lb Shih Tzu.  She has a wonderful sweet people loving temperament and especially loves children.

Chip is the daddy.  He is a 4 lb Yorkshire Terrier.  He is not only extremely cute, he's also super intelligent and friendly.

We Have Puppies! Born 11/10/2012

Sadie delivered her litter of 3 boys and 2 girls on Saturday, November 10, 2012.  The puppies were born between 5 and 6 ounces each.

The puppies are black with small white markings. We expect them to stay the colors they are now.

Dam (Sadie) is a 10 lb Shih Tzu with black on white markings. This is the small side of the AKC breed standard which is 9-16 lbs.

Sire (Chip) is a 4 lb Yorkshire Terrier, black & tan. This is the smallest size allowed by the AKC breed standard (4-7 lbs).

We believe staying within the guidelines for health and structure set by the AKC yields the healthiest, most robust puppies!

We expect these puppies to be between 5-8 lbs when grown. Sadie's puppies from previous litters of Shorkies grew up to be a little over 5 lbs. Both mom and dad are healthy and have a history of producing healthy litters.

Puppies will be ready to go to their new homes between 10-12 weeks old.

We are feeding Sadie Natural Choice puppy food. It is corn, soy, and wheat free. We will be worming with diatomaceous earth when the puppies are weaned.
